On Wednesday, we had left the beautiful city of Prague to go to Terezin, a concentration camp on the way to Krakow. The sights of rolling hills and fields on the hour-long drive between Prague and Terezin were breathtaking and truly unforgettable. Unfortunately, no scenery, no matter how beautiful, can make up for the horrific events that took place in our destination.
The past week in Europe has been a very intense time in the lives of the teen participants. On Friday, the group experienced the highest high and the lowest low.
On Thursday, when the group landed in Israel and came out of baggage claim, they were greeted by their excited counselors holding banners and signs. They were also greeted by smiling faces and delicious snacks.
Today, Bus 1 and Bus 2 explored the Ancient Mediterranean port city of Akko. Akko is home to the second largest Mosque in the Land of Israel called the Al-Jazzar Mosque. The counselors were surprised to discover that very few of the American Teens had ever been inside a Mosque before.

Right now, as Shabbat begins around the world your teens are either in their hotels nestled in the rolling hills of the Galilee, camping deep in the Negev desert or exploring the wonder of Golden Krakow in Poland. At this moment these young people are experiencing an incredible opportunity to explore the depth and breadth of our collective historical Jewish experience; essentially an exercise in spiritual, intellectual and physical Reform Jewish Torah.
Yesterday was the day!! Sci-Tech Israel Day 1! The staff waited patiently at the arrivals at Ben Gurion airport to welcome the 42 participants. We were so happy and excited to see their very tired faces as they came through the gate.
The date was Sunday June 24th, and Jews all over the United States we’re rejoicing; finally, NFTY in Israel was merely hours away. PSYCH – our flight just got delayed four hours.
This summer we look forward to welcoming hundreds of teens to Israel on our programs and to providing them with a wonderful summer adventure full of fun, friendship and personal discovery.
