This past Saturday, our tour group took a climb up Mt. Neshef (הר נשף) in the Negev. It was the afternoon, the hot sun beating down on us as if we were burgers on a flaming grill. We had had a long day; we started our morning with an early canyon hike with our Negev Tour-Guide and expert, Maor, followed by a beach and snorkeling getaway in the port town of Eilat.
It was only the second full day of the NFTY in Israel trip when we set out on a 4-day hiking and camping trip through the Negev. The point of this was to start our chronological journey through the history of the Jewish people beginning with 40 years of wandering through the desert.
The group has been trekking through the Negev Desert. Like the Children of Israel that wondered through the desert for 40 years, Bus 1 and Bus 2 have been travelling through the breathtaking beauty of the desert.
Shabbat. Known for being special compared to the rest of the week. Shabbat is the time where we all rest, celebrate, and look forward to the coming week. The NFTY in Israel trip. Known for being special compared to the rest of many teens’ entire lives. Our Israel trip is our time to celebrate, make new memories, and take our new experiences back home with us.
NFTY in Israel bus one arrived in Israel at 3pm. We boarded the bus and drove to an overlook where we could see the city of Haifa. We tried Israeli oranges and got to know one another better.
This summer we look forward to welcoming hundreds of teens to Israel on our programs and to providing them with a wonderful summer adventure full of fun, friendship and personal discovery.
