By Lee Schlosser and Adam Tobin, NFTY in Israel Participant, Bus 9
The date was Sunday June 24th, and Jews all over the United States we’re rejoicing; finally, NFTY in Israel was merely hours away. PSYCH – our flight just got delayed four hours. After the long lines and faulty baggage kiosks, we were able to unite with the mighty bus 9 and intrepidly explore the cavernous international terminal with our long lost pals and newfound friends. Finally, hours into the damp New York night, we were ready to embark on the summer of a lifetime. With a sense of wanderlust in our hearts, we were ready to inundate ourselves in our joyous trip, but only moments later, the plane was delayed again.
Hours later, on the plane, as Adam was ensnared in a deep slumber, Delta flight 3401 descended through the clouds hovering above the magnificent city of Prague… That’s right, we made it. Hundreds of teens shuffled through Czechnian border control before finally… FINALLY meeting their super neat counselors. They felt the fresh Praguian air, a sharp departure (pun intended) from the canned airline oxygen they had endured for the last day. With all of the waiting and delays they experienced to get there, nothing could dull their spirits as they finally embarked on their summer with NFTY in Israel.
