The teens arrived in Europe on Monday. Many of the participants are on a high as this is their first time in Europe. Tuesday, they were awed by the beautiful medieval architecture of the Prague Castle and the 12th century Charles Bridge decorated with historical statues. Prague was lively, picturesque and fun.
The day started normally like any other day however, this day was no ordinary day. All staff were ready to meet the teens at the airport to start the summer. This would have to wait. “The teens are going to be getting to the airport at midnight” is what we were told. The day was spent making last minute adjustments as are common with any summer program experience.
What a day! As a staff, we have thought about and prepared for this day for anywhere between a week and a year. It finally arrived, the start of our trip! Our excitement in the airport was tangible, we couldn’t stop dancing! We needed our missing piece, our participants!
Wow! We finally got to meet our chanichim (participants) after preparing for their arrival all of last week. It was wonderful to see their faces after their long awaited arrival!
This past Saturday, our tour group took a climb up Mt. Neshef (הר נשף) in the Negev. It was the afternoon, the hot sun beating down on us as if we were burgers on a flaming grill. We had had a long day; we started our morning with an early canyon hike with our Negev Tour-Guide and expert, Maor, followed by a beach and snorkeling getaway in the port town of Eilat.
This summer we look forward to welcoming hundreds of teens to Israel on our programs and to providing them with a wonderful summer adventure full of fun, friendship and personal discovery.
