Shabbat Shalom,
As we bring week 3 of our incredible journey to a close, we took the time to ask our teens some questions about the trip – what they enjoyed, what was most memorable, even what they found the most surprising.
Here are a few of their responses:
What was most memorable about today?
“Going to the different synagogues. Seeing what was once the Jewish culture of Krakow was really impactful.” – Elijah
What did you find most interesting about the Konopruske Caves?
“I found it interesting how old and ancient the caves are. The tour guide was talking about how it was used as a money-making place in the 14th century, which is a very long time ago in modern standards, but not a very long time ago in terms of geology. They had ancient human bones in there and parts of it that still haven’t been discovered. It was just really cool how old it is and how much of it we still haven’t seen or hasn’t been formed.” – Hiram
What did you like most about your day in Prague?
I really enjoyed visiting the Jewish Quarter and walking around to see the different synagogues. The Spanish Synagogue stood out to me – it was so beautiful and unique. I especially loved learning about the legend of the Golem, which I remember hearing about in religious school. Seeing that connection in person made it feel even more real and meaningful.”– Abbey Sherman
What did you enjoy about kayaking?
“I thought it was super fun! I saw lots of ducks, which was really cute. I also liked being on a raft with a bunch of people. Even though we couldn’t really paddle in sync, it just made the whole experience funnier and more chaotic in the best way.” – Kailyn Mendelsohn
What did you like the most about shopping at the mall?
“Lunch was pretty good! I got some sushi, and my friend Sadie and I got matching hoodies, which was pretty fun.” – Lillian Haims
What did you think about the two synagogues we went to?
“I thought that they were very cool! They were very educational and helped me to learn about my ancestry in Poland.” – Penelope Besnoy
What did you think was the most beautiful part of Krakow’s Market Square?
“The big clock tower was gorgeous! I also liked seeing the shops through the windows.” – Cora
What did you like the most about Legendia Silesian Amusement Park?
“The big roller coaster! I hated it the first time I went on it, but the second time was so much fun. It was terrifying, but it was so much fun.” – Violet Levine
How was the long bus ride?
“It was actually pretty fun. We laughed so much and made the best out of that time.” – Mya Wolfberg
How was the graffiti activity at the John Lennon wall?
“It was kind of difficult, but I had a lot of fun. I’ve never done this kind of thing before, and it was really interesting to try out a new art medium. I took a while to decide my color choices because I wanted it to look really good. It turned out really messy in the end, but I think it looks way better that way.” – Zorah Widofsky
Yallah! Israel trips have a substantial impact on Jewish connection, whether we can make it to Israel or not. We are so happy the final full week of Journey Europe could be filled with such balanced amounts of fun and learning.
