First full day in Israel

Written by: Lily Gartenlaub, Daria Blyveis and Alex Gutman, Yallah! 2024 Participants

Hi all! It’s Lily, Daria, and Alex writing the first teen blog of the summer!

We woke up bright and early in our kibbutz rooms and got breakfast together. Then we bussed to camel-filled Tel Be’er Sheva and learned about the story of Abraham through the Tanach including an interactive activity with play-dough. Then, we went to Mitzpeh Beit Eshel and learned about the youth building up Israel and defending it during the War of Independence. We went to lunch at the mall and had our first experience with yamishuk eating yummy Israeli-Mexican food, sandwiches, and Israeli baked goods. Lastly, we went to the Salad Trail and enjoyed freshly picked produce including an exceptionally spicy habanero pepper and released peace pigeons before returning to the kibbutz for dinner and evening activities. Now here are all of our favorite moments from the day:

Lily: sampling fruits, veggies, and herbs at the salad trail
Alex: Eating the spicy habanero pepper and seeing the animals
Daria: Seeing the ducks, chickens, and tortoise at the salad trail
