Three Months I Will Never Forget

By: Alyssa Kruman, Summer 2023 Madricha, Camp Harlam Bus 15

Summer 2023 was three months that I will never forget. There was nothing more rewarding than being by the side of Jewish teens experiencing the most special place for the first time. Each day brought new adventures, experiences, and connections with Israel. Traveling throughout the country, from the desert to Tel Aviv and everywhere in between, gave teens the opportunity to learn all about everyday life and the deep history of Israel. The trip boasted not only an excellent balance of outdoor fun and experiencing new foods, but also learning about the important history and perseverance of the Jewish state.

I am so grateful to have spent my summer in Israel, and I am even more thankful for my experience after October 7th. I believe it is extremely important, now more than ever, to have a deep connection with Israel. Several weeks ago, I went back to Israel for a mission trip. It was so special helping the farmers get their tasks done and supplementing the work of farmers who can no longer work. The Israelis were so appreciative of the dozens of Americans who left their lives at home to come help out in a time of desperation.

My many experiences in Israel, whether it be for a vacation or in a time of mourning, have been the most unforgettable times of my life.
