Arriving in Israel

By Lily Gould, Bus 6 Participant

As we arrived in Israel after a short plane ride from Warsaw, Poland, excitement filled the air. Everyone was so excited to see Israel, more endearingly known as the “Holy Land.” I had learned about this place throughout my childhood. Growing up at Eisner Camp, they instilled Jewish values and taught us about Israel and its history. When we landed, it felt surreal.

After a few long hours at Ben Gurion Airport, it was time to head to a kibbutz near Tel Aviv. It was so interesting to see how the way of living is so different from our version of western culture. The weather in Israel is beautiful, sunny, and very hot. Despite the heat, Israel is truly so beautiful. After being there for just a few hours, this idea was clear. We headed to Tel Aviv to explore the city. There was amazing food, it was a beautiful city and overall had so much liveliness to it.

The next day, we headed to the Negev Desert for a three day hiking trip. We packed all of our things and headed out on our journey. The next days consisted of many challenging hikes, going to Eilat to snorkel, going to the mall for Pizur and shopping, lots of bonding with friends, and making new friends from Crane Lake Camp. The experience was overall very rewarding, as I and many others felt that we pushed our limits and tried new things. Israel has been amazing so far!
