The True NFTY in Israel Experience

By Jace Dery, NFTY in Israel Participant, Bus 2

Man, what an experience this trip has been.

It’s so surreal to me that a month has flown by so quickly and that in just a few short days, we will be leaving. I remember looking at the itinerary before the trip and asking myself, “Would all of this be fun?” After doing all the activities and seeing so many things, fun is an understatement. IT WAS UNREAL!!!! I have made so many lasting memories that I will cherish and tell all my friends and family back home about. I have made friendships with kids from all over the country and have become closer with friends that I already had. This trip allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and try things that I never thought I would and it will go down in the books as one of the best experiences of my life.

There are a lot of people that made this trip possible and deserve some recognition. I want to thank all of our counselors for being with us and caring for us. Whether it was blocking traffic, so we could cross the road, or creating meaningful programs, you guys made this experience great. I could not have asked for a better group of people to be with. I also want to thank Hannah (mom) for being a great educator. I have learned so much about the history of this country and I can’t wait to spread this knowledge to my friends, family, and Jewish community. I also want to thank Sarah for being a great supervisor and making sure that everything was going on schedule and that we were all safe. Lastly, I want to thank my parents for letting me go on this trip and for supporting me throughout my journey. You guys are the best.

Although this trip might be ending, it won’t be my last time coming here. I can’t wait to see how this country develops in the future so maybe one day, I could visit again.
