By Emma Green, NFTY in Israel Participant, Bus 5
My name is Emma Green and I am from Eisner Camp. This is my first time in Israel and I am on Bus 5. My first day of Israel, despite being thoroughly exhausted from the flight, was nothing but spectacular. When we finally got to the hotel around 9am, I slept until 2pm, which was needed. After our nap we headed out to Jaffa, Israel, specifically Old Jaffa. We saw the beach when driving into Jaffa, which just fueled the want to swim much more.
For dinner, which also happened to be Pizur time, we went to place called Dr.Shakshouka. Pizur is free time without being as a whole group. The food was absolutely tasteful. Dinner was 58 shekels (16ish dollars in American currency), which consisted of shakshouka, hummus, salad, bread, and couscous. Shakshouka is an Israeli dish that is made up of tomatoes, eggs, and peppers. I was full and happy by the end of it. After Pizur, we headed back to the hotel and sang the bed time Sh’ma. My first day of Israel was fun, breathtakingly beautiful, and something I will remember for a lifetime.
