After a fulfilling breakfast at kibbutz Hannaton, our group took the bus to the city of Nazareth, the former home to the most famous Jew in the world, Jesus Christ. When we arrived, we met with two other teen groups: one from an Israeli school and one of Arab-Israeli teens from Nazareth. We got to know our new friends through an icebreaker activity and explored the city in small groups. Then, we explored the beautiful church of the Basilica, admiring the paintings and stained glass windows of the holy building. Next, we had a delicious lunch of various flatbreads at a well-known Arab restaurant in Nazareth. Then, we volunteered by collaborating to create a complex mosaic to be hung in the city. During this time, some people cut the ceramic into small pieces while others glued the pieces into our colorful design. As we worked, we socialised and learned about each other’s cultures. To conclude our time at Nazareth, our counsellors split us into groups to reflect on the fascinating day we had. We played language sherades to understand each other better. Finally, we headed back to Kibbutz Hannaton for some free time and dinner.
