Wow! These past few days have been, fun, heavy and special all at the same time. Our trip began at JFK, greeting around 100 kids and their parents from 4 different camps! Eisner, Crane Lake, Harlam and Sci Tech. For our first night in Poland, we went into town for dinner. Campers had the choice of Italian, McDonald’s, hard rock, and Polish food and then some time to explore the town. The next day we went to the Jewish cemetery where we learned about the history of the many Jews murdered in the holocaust and recited the Mourners Kaddish as a group which was very meaningful for all of us. After that, we went to the Polin museum where everyone got their own audio guide and could tour the museum on their own time. Ava U said “I realized the importance of touring Poland and learning about our Jewish history since my ancestors were killed during the holocaust in Poland and it means a lot to me”. Once this heavy day of learning was complete, we went back to the hotel for Shabbat! Overall, our first few days have been off to a great start and we are all excited for the days to come!
